| Into the new Millenium! Well who knows what this new century will hold in store for us all, not to mention possibilities of dealing with the Euro.
The building industry has changed significantly during our time and will continue to do so at an ever increasing rate. In our market sector we have already felt the effects of sub-contracting, bad publicity, the emergence and growth of "DIY" and the so-called specialists.
Regrettably, training of craftsmen has been in decline and there is a noticeable shortage of good reliable tradesmen as a consequence of the "recession" and perhaps what are perceived more attractive careers. Lets hope the industry, the government and all involved will wake up and address matters.
We recognise the need to continually improve all round efficiency and to provide good standards of quality and service simply to stay in the "game". Consequently, H J Johnston & Son Ltd. will be actively involved with increased use of information technology, modern management skills and training young men and women for craft based careers in an effort to achieve this.
Such measures we hope will allow us to remain competitive but perhaps more importantly, promote quality and service for the mutual benefit of the company and our clients.
We aim to continue with an established traditional approach to our construction, joinery and funeral activities, perhaps consolidating slightly with a view to increased efficiency and an emphasis on value for money rather than cheapest is best. |
